2 stroke or 4 stroke dirtbike?

i have a 4 stroke trail bike right now. In the next year i would like to get a new dirtbike so that i can jump and ride on tracks. I want a 2 stroke because my friend has one and they are so much fun, but my dad doesn't like 2 strokes because he thinks they are too much trouble and break down too much so he thinks i should get a 4 stroke. I ride on tracks and trails evenly, and i dont have that much money to be putting into a bike all the time. What bike is more fun? what bike is overall cheaper? what bike is overall better? what bike should i get? Thanks...
