Will my hamster be alright?

My cousin tried to pick up one of my hamsters (my Russian Dwarf) while I wasn't here and the hamster bit him on the finger and he flailed his hand and the hamster hit the floor. He managed to pick it up before it got away but I think the poor thing is scared to death now since it tries to bite me every time I touch it or it cringes. It won't even take food from my fingers, although it will take the food if I put it down first. I'm pretty sure it will be alright physically but will it be alright mentally? It won't be traumatized for the rest of its life will it?
