Temper tantrums... help!!!!!!!?

My son is now 2y8m old. I think his tantrums must have been fairly mild compared to many kids. I agree with the first response though, in that tantrums should be left to run out. I don't believe in ignoring a child, or making them feel that the behavior is "bad" or that I don't care how they are feeling. However, a child mid tantrum is like an unstoppable force and I do believe that often trying to talk or reason or entertain or distract a child in the middle of that can just add to the stress and frustration for them and make things worse. I've found the best thing to do is just get on with whatever you are doing, wait for them to calm down and then welcome them back with open arms.
