10 Month Old Tantrums?

He just started doing this when something doesn't go his way, I take something away from him that he shouldn't have or just no reason at all. He flails his arms, shakes his head no, and kicks his legs. I heard this can last until a year and a half..Is there any truth to that? I don't give any attention to him when he throws one for no reason otherwise I just say "everything is okay, you are just fine" and that's it.
